Francesco Ferri

Francesco Ferri obtained a Master of Architecture and Civil Engineering at the University of Ferrara, Italy, in 2008. Since 2018, he has been primarily involved with Spencer R. Higgins, Architect Incorporated, providing services related to the conservation of historic buildings and assisting with laboratory testing work at our affiliated conservator service ArconTEST.

Prior to moving to Canada, Francesco was a licensed Architect on the Register of the Association of Architects, Landscape Architects, Town Planners and Environmental Planners in Italy. Francesco previously worked as an Architect in Italy at AperE in Rimini (2013-2018) and Beta Associated in Bologna (2008-2013).

His most recent project involvement at Spencer R. Higgins Architect Incorporated has included the preparation of Contract Documents, Field Review, and Project Management for various heritage conservation assignments including the John Howard Mausoleum, Colborne Lodge, and the Alumnae Theatre projects in Toronto.
Francesco's professional history demonstrates a core specialization in the restoration and conservation of historic buildings, established during his early practice in Italy. His foundational experience involved significant Italian heritage assignments, providing design development, project management, and contract administration for projects such as Palazzo Perticari in Pesaro (2014) and the Ex-Salesian Complex in Faenza (2013). His work showcases a proven expertise in the heritage field, and his comprehensive knowledge of Italian conservation principles and traditional building technology remains highly valuable and directly applicable to his specialized work in the Canadian context.
